Leah Ledford Anthony: Class of 2006

Leah Ledford Anthony

North Wilkes High School Alumni
Leah Ledford Anthony

Q: Year graduated from North Wilkes:
A: 2006

Q: List any education/degrees beyond high school:
A: BS ASU

Q: List Professional/Career Experience and why you chose your career path:
A: Cosmetologist, after entering into corporate world in 2010 I realized it wasn’t truly what I wanted. I went back to
cosmetology school 2 years later and have now been in the beauty industry for 7 years. Everyone said what a waste!
However I wouldn’t go back and change my path. It took 3 schools and a career change to get me here and it was all
worth it! From a working student track athlete at Lees McRae, a 2010 ASU Mountaineer grad, corporate workaholic,
Pinnacle Institute of Cosmetology student to finally a wife, mom, and cosmetologist. No one can take your education,
good relationships, or experiences. As long as your learning, pressing forward, helping and loving others, not using
anyone for your own selfish desires then NO it’s not a waste. The world is yours as long as your motivated and educated.

Q: If you could go back and give yourself advice as a high school student, what advice would you give and why. What
advice would you give to high school students today?
A: Don’t make it your business what others think of you. It’s their opinion, it truly only matters what YOU think of YOU. I
promise you’re not going to see them again after high school if you do you won't see them the way you do now. But YOU
will see YOU forever. Most of your teachers care about you, believe me they’re not doing their job for the money! My best
friends are teachers so I can say that. Respect them and don't be a pain. They’re just trying to get you ready for this real
crazy world. Test suck I know but there will always be some sort of test in life. Haha wait until you become a parent!
Enjoy these days, for real I was told that like once a week but if you can get over the OPINION of whatever ding dong
snap chatted or posted or whatever about you then ENJOY these days. By the way don't post stuff you DONT want to
circulate. For real, use common sense, social media is on steroids! 4 years is truly a blink!

Q: Do you have a special memory from your time at North?
A: All my days on the track, even running bleachers and setting up hurdles. Meeting up with friends during breaks,
football and basketball games. Biology and English were my favorite classes. School breakfast and those chocolate chip
cookies were the best.

Q: How has your NWHS education and experiences positively impacted your life?
A: Coach Green aka Doc Journalism, English, Latin, chemistry, biology. I hated chemistry but those are the classes you
learn patience.

Q: Any special honor or accomplishment since high school you would like to share?
A: Christian, wife ,mother, someone for others to confide in without judging them, seeing my little one through the eyes
of myself at her age, Trying to show grace to others, realizing my husband is also my other half and will ALWAYS stick
with me through tough times too. That’s right, you better be sticking to that kind of person. It’s not always roses. My
“tribe” is my two parents, two sisters, two best friends three girls from church and four girls I work with. You’ll find out
quick who’s there for you. I call all THAT an achievement.
