It is with great pleasure that I serve as the Principal of North Wilkes High School. As a former alumnus of North Wilkes, I take a lot of pride in working with our students, staff, and community to ensure every Viking is successful. Our mission at North Wilkes, is Vikings strive for excellence, exceed expectations, and lead by example. This embodies what our students and staff work toward each and every day. Our staff is composed of caring individuals who go above and beyond to meet every student's needs. North Wilkes High School is a great place to work and learn.
A little about me, I’m a 1998 graduate of North Wilkes High School. I attended WCC for two years and transferred to UNC Greensboro where I received my undergraduate degree in Exercise and Sports Science. I then took my first teaching position at North Wilkes Middle School and taught Physical Education there for 13 years. During that time I coached and served as Athletic Director for 8 years. My graduate degree is from Appalachian State University in Middle Grades Education and an additional certificate in School Leadership. I served as Assistant Principal at C.C. Wright Elementary for two years and at North Wilkes High School for three years before becoming the Principal. I’ve grown up in the North community and served all but two of my professional years here. I love where I work and enjoy serving my community.
#Once a Viking Always a Viking
I am a graduate of Appalachian State University and Gardner-Webb University. Within my educational career, I have served in both administrative and classroom teacher positions. I began as a middle school math and science teacher. Most recently, I served as the Assistant Principal at Mountain View Elementary. I am thrilled to bring my educational experience and skills to further promote the success of North Wilkes High School.
On a personal note, I live within the North Wilkes Community and am eager to begin this new journey. I believe in the importance of strong relationships being a vital component to the success of any organization. Therefore, I look forward to my personal involvement with students, families, and the overall community. North Wilkes High School has a strong tradition of success that I am excited to be a part of.
