Q: List Professional/Career Experience and why you chose your career path:
A: Teacher and Instructor in Architectural Technology and Drafting (Mooresville City schools, 1 yr. Wilkes County Schools 13 yrs. Wilkes Community College 17 yrs. Served as baseball coach for 32 plus years. Loved teaching and helping change someone’s life.
 
Q: If you could go back and give yourself advice as a high school student, what advice would you give and why. What advice would you give to high school students today?
A: Enjoy every minute and take time to learn how to study in high school. When I started out in college I felt like I was behind from the beginning because I didn’t know how to study.
 
Q: Do you have a special memory from your time at North?
A: Times on the Baseball field
 
Q: How has your NWHS education and experiences positively impacted your life?
A: The biggest impact on me from my years at North Wilkes came from Coach Charlie Wooten’s drafting class. His class gave me an interest that impacted my career decision to become an Architectural Technology and Drafting teacher. And Coach Wooten, Coach Steve Harvel, and Coach Roger Caudle—their influence they had on me as baseball coaches helped me in my career of coaching which is going on over 32 years now.”
 
Q: Any special honor or accomplishment since high school you would like to share?
A:
  • High School and College Baseball Coach and Fast Pitch Softball Coach (32+ years)
  • 1992 Regional State High School Baseball Coach of the Year
  • 3A Conference Baseball Coach of the Year (3 times)
  • 2013, served as an Assistant Coach for State 1A High School Fastpitch Softball Champions—West Wilkes High School
  • 17 years Architectural/Engineering Department Chairman, Wilkes Community College
